Raeleigh's first birthday Luau

Image
Celebrated June 13 with a swim party. There were 11 kids including my own. Everyone had a blast. Raeleigh had a custome cake made for her by Coffey Custome Cakes--it was a sandcastle. Lara Jane did a great job! We also served watermelon flavored sherbert and drinks...lots and lots of drinks--it was very hot. The kiddos had 3 swim pools. One 1 ring, the big one, another wading pool plus one at the bottom of the playground slide. A crazy flower sprinkle sat atop the playground keeping everything misted and cool. And for the older kiddos, a slip n slide sat in the sun. PS. Raeleigh started walking the day of her party! And on a less important note, Jason threw me in the stinkin pool! At least I got to cool off! hehe

I AM THE COUPON MOMMA

I go in with a plan. We are a one income family with 2 small children and one BIG appetite. I first sit down and plan every meal for a 2 week period (that is our pay period) and I only shop twice a month. First comes the meal plan. I start by listing day of the week and the date for that day. I am also sure to note any special ocassions like going out of town, hosting someone for dinner or eating over at someones house. Then I go through my pantry and see what I have that I can make into a meal for those 2 weeks. Usually I can scrounge up 3-4 meals this way...leaving me with 10 dinners instead of 14. I plan for leftover lunches and cheap lunches for me and the girls. Then I go through the HEB ad. I look at the... combo locos meal deals sale items etc. [ps. I usually get my sodas at Brookshires because they more than usually run the 4 for $10 deal] I can usually fill in a few meals from the ad and then comes the fun part--THE COUPON BOOK! I have a 3 ring binder full of baseball card pro...

Christian vs secular music

Ok--if you know me and/or have ridden in my vehicle or been in my kitchen for any length of time, you know that I listen to KLOVE Christian music on the radio and prefer Chrisitan cds while doing any kind of housework. Well today after a looooooooooooooooooooong day in Mart helping memaw I put the girls to bed and turned on the radio. My Christian station wont come in in my kitchen so I found myself on a pop/oldies station that I will not name. I am agast as the stark differences between the messages that these 2 genres send. -Christian music very clearly and truthfully places identity and faith in God. Jesus is the savior and all good things come from Him. The goal is worship and the hope is salvation of the lost. -Secular music places identity in other (not God)--more specifically love interests. The savior is lover and sexiness. All good things come from sex--and even better than prematital sex seems to be premarital homosexual sex {aka: I kissed a girl}. The goal is anger, venting,...

Medical Chaos

PHEW! I get tired even thinking about it I had a cyst--on the right side of my neck. Been there 2 years. Gross. Had to go. Surgery April 23rd. Cyst removed. Threw back out SERIOUSLY bad 2 days before. COuld barely walk into doc office for procedure...but it needed to go. Cyst cut out. Was necrotic--meaning dead tissue. If not removed could have absessed. Stitched out 1 week later skin looked good woke up 4 days later and scar was black like coal. Very black, very gross. Raeleigh had appt next day so i saw doc then. Doc scratched head. Stuck needle in said black spot and removed partially clotted blood (aka hematoma). Doc scratched head some more as 'black spot" went from black to pink and back to black in matter of seconds---blood continued to pool in area. Got home, washed lesion to rebandage and skin rolled off top of lesion. I almost puked and passed out. Held my cool. Bandaged lesion and back to doc next day. More head scratching ensued along with head shaki...

Amazing Grace

For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. Romans 6:14 I have sung the song hundreds of times. I know it word for word. There are times that God has forgiven me through his grace...but never have I experienced Jesus' grace through forgiveness from another person. It IS AMAZING! Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now i'm found was blind but now I see... 2 Corinthians 4:15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 6:1 As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain I had never before in my life felt like such a wretch but now I have hope and light. Praise God.
