Be Still and Know...

I sit awake.  I am the last one in the house who hasn't fallen asleep, and my mind just continues to replay the events of the last few days.  I have tried all sorts of things to calm myself and as a last resort I am turning back to my writing as a form of therapy. So here goes... Raeleigh nearly died and God saved her.   It was a normal spring break day.  We got up to go to the dentist to get our twice a year family cleaning.  This is a big ordeal since we schedule all of our appointments together...it truly is a family affair.  It took a few hours to get all 4 of us worked through.  The girls and I made a quick trip to the exotic animal store for mill worms and crickets for toothless, our bearded dragon.  Then on the way home I swung through Bush's to get the girls 2 tender rolls, gravy and fries.  I had lunch in the fridge at home. We intended to have a picnic, but decided it was too windy once we got home,so everyone just ate inside...

Open Book: God is Good and Big enough to release me

I am and always have been an open book--transparent to my core, and at times, to a fault.  Now is no exception.  I have through all of my soul searching and healing always made it clear that I am NOT perfect and I DO NOT have it all figured out.  That is still the case.  I am not writing this to toot my own horn--On the contrary, I am wanting to give God the glory for two mind-blowingly amazing victories that He has blessed me with. With that said, I will just shamelessly dive right in.  I struggle with depression, PTSD, pain and so many more 'conditions' that I just don't even have the energy or desire to list them all.  I do believe that most of these ailments have been spiritual warfare and attacks due to my desire for light and truth to shine into me and my life.  If you know my testimony, you know what all I am referring to. I have been on antidepressants off and on for 7 years, and my most recent stint on them has lasted a bit over 5...

New Review by Poetic Monthly Magazine

A beautiful Christian based story broad enough to deal with any crisis a child may endure. Typically, after a crisis we question why did this happen? Aunt Lou is a loving character that explains in depth why sometimes bad things happen to good people, even children. I love the fact that the author took the time to explain 'free will' and how God gives us all the opportunity to choose. Even in our wrong decisions God will forgive us, and He loves and cares for each of us. The author does an excellent job of displaying scriptures to support the story. The illustrations are colorful and include children of all races. I thouroughly enjoyed the book, and would love to see a possible series develop with the character Aunt Lou. Great book, I would highly recommend it.

Avatar, Christ and America

Ok, so i just watched Avatar. I know, I know I am a bit behind on my popculture...Ok I am ALOT behind. I told my husband today that I didnt know what all this buzz was about some kid named "Justin Beaver". I was thoroughly impressed with the analogies with the Iraq and Afghanastan wars. All personal opinions of the war aside...I saw very clearly how the US occupation of Pandora is synonymous with the US occupation overseas--both lusting after 'natural resources' of the invaded lands. It was even alluded to in a couple of character aside moments in the movie. (like when Jake mentions taking over a land, villifying the natives and then stealing whatever it is you want from them all in the name of country)....hmmmmm, a bit political ya think?--still enjoyed it! I also found the level of allusions to our Christian God very Lewis and Tolkienesque--minus a talking lion or a hobbit. I loved how the diety of pandora was represented in creation and nature as a conection betwee...

A few of my favorite things...

This weekend was wonderful. My husband and oldest daughter woke me at 9am sat (very late for a mom of a 3 yr old and 8 mo old) to breakfast in bed including a toy rose compliments of the play room, my favorite cup o joe and a wonderful home-made breakfast. [HE IS FINALLY GETTING IT--sometimes the best gifts are the ones that cost absolutely nothing] Then Jason took me to lowes and got me plants and dirt and fertilizer and edging...if you know me, you know how totally exciting this was.... So this got me thinkning. In the midst of having babies, staying home with said babies, and raising babies all while keeping house and cooking it is VERY VERY easy to forget what brings ME joy. I thought about that alot this weekend and have decided to catalogue a few of my favorite things... 1. I love being outside. This is definately my #1 because all the other things that I enjoy so very very much usually revolving around being outdoors or enjoying outdoors or thinking about the outdoors, or c...
