Reese's Baptism 12-18-2011

Being taken great care of...

Today was my first PT appointment post-op.  It went well, gnarly, but well.  As expected, bending my knee was the most difficult part.  My therapist said that I had regained more whole body movement (rolling to each side and even laying on my stomach) than she had expected.  However, my hamstring has begun to atrophy as well as the other major muscles in my thigh.  She used several electrical devices to stimulate my muscles and help me to make them contract.  Needless to say I was VERY sore and swollen when all was said and done.  I had planned to go get Reese from school today.  I have been released to drive and can with great difficulty get in and out of the car wearing my immobilizer but I can only drive if I don't have pain pills in my system.  The first thing I wanted to do when I got home from PT was take a pain pill!!!...and I was utterly exhausted.  My father-in-law agreed to pick Reese up for me today.  I mu...

The Schroeders

They welcomed me into their family.  They loved me and my girls.  They took care of my family when we were in need.  They were caring and generous.  The loved their grandson and daughter.  I wish we would have asked Truman all his cooking and gardening secrets.  I wish I could have enjoyed one more squash casserole or some homemade bbq sauce.  I wish I could have spent more time with Rose.  Reese will remember her.  She would go to her home, when she was still living in Mart, cuddle up in the recliner with her and watch Beverly Hill Chihuahua over and over again.  My girls loved their memaw Rose.  Easter, Christmas, Halloween and other holidays just will not be the same.  Raeleigh asked, "Why did memaw have to die?  I liked her." The Schroeders were good people and are happily now reunited in Heaven.  Rose is reading, watching movie and gardening--she can walk and, even dance, and diabetes never crosses her mind....

Brazos River Multi-congregation Baptismal Service

What a day this was.  Beautiful scenery, great friends, wonderful music, tasty food, heart-warming baptisms and a God that never fails.   A total of ten people were either baptised for the first time or rededicated their lives to Christ. A beautiful friend of mine who has been a Christian for years just never baptised chose to join me on this memorable day.  You know the type of friend I mean...I have only VERY casually known her and her family for less that 2 years.  Just in the last month did we set aside the time to get our families together and get to know each other more.  There are some people God gifts into your life that you just IMMEDIATELY feel love for and a connection with.  We truly do have brothers and sisters in Christ.  Amber is for sure my sister.  I love her and her family dearly--immediately.  I was blessed to have them with me on this special day. In addition to sharing this experience with a dear fri...

The East Texas Excursion 2011

SIX am came far too early Saturday January 7th of 2011. We rushed to get us and the girlies dressed, bags loaded, dogs kennelled, and off on our way. Shipleys Donut's sign shown brightly in the early morning central Texas sky, and 3 big earl with cheese kolachees later, we were on the road headed to see the G. GG that is. My mom. She lives in Gray, Texas which is a TINY town on the outskirts of Jefferson, Texas and actually closer to Vivian, LA. Five hours of potty breaks, snack grabs, and diaper changes later, and we finally made our way down G's long gravel driveway. The girls were screaming with delight from the back seat. They did so very good on such a long trip, and they didn't even know we would be making the trip til the day before. I just didn't have the patience for a whole week of are we leaving today, are we leaving now, are we leaving after nap time....so I just waited til the day before. And even then, it got a bit pestersome. ;) Once we jumped out and sha...
